Description: This is a photograph of the 1913 Fremont flood. The view is from the corner of West State Street and North Front Street looking northwest. The 1913 flood in Fremont was caused by three days of rainfall, between March 23 and March 26. Floodwaters of the Sandusky River rose to six feet higher than they had ever been recorded. Some 550 homes were flooded, and approximately fifty of these homes were rendered uninhabitable or were totally destroyed. Four out of five bridges in Fremont washed away. The flood also took three lives in Fremont: Captain Floro, Frank Saller, and John Homan. View on Ohio Memory.
